Thursday Thirteen #8

Thirteen Reasons I’m glad my son woke up and called for me, about three hours after he’d been asleep tonight:

  1. We rocked together and he was soothed — a huge milestone in his life.
  2. We compared our hands and he loved it when I kissed his palm.
  3. He high-fived me and was so proud of himself that he repeated it!
  4. We listened together as Zuva come up the stairs.
  5. He greeted Zuva with the word “hi”, which he only uses for pets, not humans, and then waved “night-night” (not bye-bye in our house) as she went back downstairs.
  6. He sniffed the Vicks and “told” me about it (still only has about 5 words.)
  7. We listened to the heater turn on (yep, still winter here.)
  8. We listened to his music as he bobbed his head in appreciation so I’d know the songs he liked.
  9. He compared my nose to his and to the green blob stuffed animal hanging on the back of his rocking chair.
  10. He snuggled, truly relaxed in my arms — something we were worried he’d never do.
  11. We listened as Mom came home and up the stairs to say “night-night.”
  12. We giggled as we played where’s Maxie — one of our bedtime rituals.
  13. He let me rub his back — also something we didn’t think he’d ever be able to tolerate.

  5. I love this perspective! When my son got up in the middle of the night, I’m not sure I could cherish all of that. My #1 goal was always to get. back. to. sleep. That whole “living in the moment” was hard for me to do when sleep deprived. πŸ™‚

  6. These are the momens you’ll cherish forever.
