Photo Friday: Electricity

Photo Friday badge created by nickciske

This picture was taken back in September of 2004. The pole in the background is the farm power pole. If you’ve ever been in a farm yard or driven by a farm, you will usually notice a very bright light on a centrally located pole. The phone and electric come in via this pole, and is then relayed from there to the various buildings.

It had rained the night before, so we were out bright and early the next morning exploring to see what we could find. Unfortunately, this is what the dogs found for me! I was not very happy about it, but it is probably the closest I will ever get to such a beautiful bird.

He almost looks alive, doesn’t he?

But as this position clearly indicates, he wasn’t. It was a very sad day, and we believe he was probably electrocuted on the power pole sometime during the storm.

  5. How sad! I’ve always said that if I could have any animal as a pet, it would be an owl… they are so lovely and regal.
